The ‘Under the Bed Sale IW’ is back, offering art lovers the chance to purchase original works at affordable prices.
This year, the sale will take place in the main gallery at Quay Arts in Newport, showcasing a diverse selection of artwork from Isle of Wight-based artists.

The event features work from artists currently exhibiting on the Island, many of whom have gained national and international recognition.
Several participating artists have received prestigious awards and are members of national art organisations.
The sale offers a unique opportunity for artists to clear space in their studios by selling stored artwork at reduced prices.
For buyers, it is the perfect chance to start or expand an art collection without breaking the bank.
A wide range of artistic styles and media
Prices will range from £10 to £350, making it possible for visitors to take home a one-of-a-kind piece of art at an accessible price.
The selection includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and ceramics, alongside experimental pieces, slight seconds, sketchbook works, drawings, collage and even objects that defy description.
All work is displayed salon-style and available for immediate purchase, allowing buyers to take home their chosen pieces on the day.
A not-for-profit event supporting local artists
The ‘Under the Bed Sale IW’ is a not-for-profit event, organised by and for the benefit of exhibiting artists.
Last year’s inaugural sale created a buzz in the local arts community, with nearly 800 pieces sold over the week, directly supporting artists on the Island.
This year, organisers Fran Farrar, Fiona Schindler, Jill Wilkinson and Karen Mead are looking forward to another successful event.
A vibrant atmosphere at Quay Arts
Fran Farrar, one of the event organisers, shared her enthusiasm for this year’s sale.
“Last year was such a vibrant, energetic event with almost 800 pieces of work sold over the week and we anticipate that this year will be equally as busy.
“We are particularly thrilled to be holding the event in the wonderful West Gallery at Quay Arts.
“As the main arts venue on the Island it feels a great place to be sharing work for sale at accessible prices.”
Event details
The sale runs from Saturday 1st February to Saturday 8th February at Quay Arts, Sea Street, Newport.
Opening hours are 9am – 5pm daily, with free entry to the public.
Visitors can also enjoy refreshments at the Quay Arts Café while they browse the artwork.
With so much to choose from, it may be worth considering in advance which walls at home need filling!
