The museum is not just a store of artefacts and a preservation centre for all types of historic memorabilia both civil and military, it also aims to be a hub for ex-service personnel and disadvantaged youngsters or vulnerable adults to meet and access services tailored to their needs.

Guided tours are generally available from the volunteers who, with their varied experiences and anecdotes, really contribute to the enjoyment of the displays.

There is also an air rifle range to test your shooting skills and a fully stocked gift shop with some very unusual items.
