The Isle of Wight Volunteer Centre, in collaboration with the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, and supported by Creative Island, is organising a very special event, taking place on Sunday 14th April.

The Arts and Heritage Volunteer Fair aims to shine a light on the extraordinary contributions of the Island’s arts, museums, and heritage organisations, as well as highlighting the crucial role volunteers play in keeping the Island’s arts and heritage vibrant.

Community and culture united
Visitors to the Arts and Heritage Volunteer Fair will be offered the chance to delve into how arts and heritage organisations operate and explore ways to get involved.

The event promises hands-on experiences, allowing visitors to interact with artefacts and perhaps even try on historical costumes or art pieces.

Sign up to take part
A recent event organised by the Volunteer Centre, celebrating ‘Village Life and Future Sustainability’ at Mottistone Manor Gardens, was a roaring success.

Arts or heritage groups interested in participating are encouraged to sign up by Thursday 4th April 2024.

Ciccognani: Blown away by the knowledge and passion
Sandy Ciccognani, the Manager of the IW Volunteer Centre, shared her insights on the significance of the upcoming event.

“In my role as Volunteer Centre Manager at Community Action IW, I have had the pleasure to go and visit many of these arts, heritage centres, and museums.

“I am always blown away by the extent of knowledge being preserved and the passion shared for our culture by a relatively small group of people.”

Inspire new volunteers
The event is seen as a platform for discovery, reminiscence, and potentially inspiring new volunteers to offer their time and skills. Sandy goes on to add,

“This event will help to showcase some of them and build connections with the wider community, and I encourage everyone to attend, whether they are coming alone or with family.”

A free event for all
With no cost for attendance, the event stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to preserving and promoting its cultural heritage through collaboration and volunteerism.

Head over Community Action website to complete the form to ensure your organisation can take part. The deadline to enter is Thursday 4th April 2024.
