Creatives working in photography, both in traditional and digital formats, are invited to attend a networking event on Thursday, 19th September 2024, from 6-8pm at the Dimbola Museum and Galleries in Freshwater.
The event is free of charge and open to visual artists and videographers who are looking to connect with others in the field.
An historic venue for contemporary creatives
The gathering will take place at the historic Dimbola Museum and Galleries, the former home and studio of pioneering Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron.
Cameron, who lived and worked at Dimbola between 1860 and 1875, made significant contributions to early photography, especially portraiture. Her legacy continues to inspire, and today the museum, operated by the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust, serves as both a tribute to her work and a vibrant community space for artists.
Connecting artists across the Isle of Wight
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the gallery spaces, museum, and the venue’s other amenities, such as the tea room and gift shop.
The event will also provide a platform for creatives to discuss potential collaborations and learn more about upcoming opportunities at Dimbola Museum and Galleries. Organisers hope this gathering will foster a sense of community among artists on the Isle of Wight.
How to join the event
Those interested in attending the event can secure their place by booking through Eventbrite.
With limited spots available, early registration is encouraged. This is a fantastic opportunity for local photographers, visual artists, and videographers to connect, share resources, and explore the rich cultural history of one of the Isle of Wight’s most significant artistic landmarks.
