30 April 2026

As part of CAN YOU HEAR US?, our six-week celebration of creativity and culture taking place across the Island this autumn, exciting free activity is already happening from our energetic Micro-Grant community which you can be a part of. This week we have a spotlight focus on Island CraftWorks based in Ryde.

The first workshop took place on April 1st 2026. We’ve caught up with Gabby, Artist and Facilitator at Island CraftWorks, to find out more about these sessions. She expressed:

The workshop had a lovely, relaxed feel and it was wonderful to see everyone settling into the creative space. The workshops are designed as gentle, welcoming creative sessions — particularly for those who might not see themselves as “creative” but are looking for a relaxed, supportive space to try something new, connect with others, and take a little time for themselves.

All materials are provided, and beginners are very much encouraged. Spaces are currently available – booking is open, with a waiting list in place if sessions fill. You can find more information, and sign-up here.

Want to take part in more? Check out our Events tab! All activities are free of charge, and everyone is welcome to take part.

Delivered in partnership with Creative Lives, the Micro-Grant programme provides grants of £500–£1,000 to Island-based community groups for creative projects between March and October 2026. Supporting participation, collaboration, and inclusion, grants fund materials, space, or events, encouraging engagement, addressing loneliness, and helping groups explore new creative ambitions.
