Introducing Brightbulb’s brand new app ‘Wight Explorer’. A simple and streamline way of finding out all the going ons around the Isle of Wight, right at your fingertips.

Island built, the app was developed by Shane Smith, alongside Fiona Jeffery and Matt Jeffery from award-winning ‘Isle of Wight design’, combining their experience in business, technology and digital development to tackle an all too familiar problem across the Island, finding out what is actually going on. They aim for it to become the go-to place for discovering what’s happening across the Isle of Wight, bringing events of all shapes and sizes together in one place.
From major festivals, to family days out, theatre, markets and car boot sales, the team behind Wight Explorer want to make discovering things to do on the Isle of Wight far easier for residents and visitors alike. Right now, Islanders have to search across websites, Facebook groups or just hope that a friend has heard about the next fun thing to do. This free app will now allow users to search and browse for events by category, date or keywords. You’ll even be able to save events that take your fancy to build your own personalised itinerary and receive reminders through push notifications, so you never forget what’s going on amidst a busy schedule.
The Isle of Wight is a unique place when it comes to marketing events, with community and word of mouth being the strongest forms of discovery. The Wight Explorer team’s ambition is for the app to become the first place people turn when looking for something to do on the Isle of Wight, whether that is planning a weekend in advance or simply wondering what is happening that day.
And if you’re an event organiser, it’s just as easy for you to list events as it is to discover them. You can list directly through the app, with complete personalisation over the images, event category and description.
We’ve already given it a go and we’re loving it. Try it out yourself, you can take a look at all the upcoming CAN YOU HEAR US? events, we think that’s a great place to start.
Available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, just search ‘Wight Explorer’.
