We are inviting artists to submit a short Expression of Interest for an upcoming installation in the Re:Box public art space in Ryde as part of CAN YOU HEAR US?, the six-week celebration of creativity and culture taking place across the Isle of Wight from the 11th September to the 24th October 2026.

About Re:Box:
Re:Box is the Isle of Wight’s smallest art gallery sited in a classic Kiosk No.6 red phone box on Lind Street in Ryde. Through BT’s ‘Adopt a Kiosk’ initiative, Ryde Town Council purchased the box for £1 and turned it over to ‘Ryde Exhibitionists’ – a pair of local creatives determined to give this decommissioned piece of street furniture a new lease of life. Since August 2022, writer Anmarie Bowler and photographer Zoe Barker have worked with Island artists and community groups to create a series of ever-changing and surprising installations. Lit from the inside, when night falls Re:Box transforms into a lightbox that creates the magical impression of glowing stained glass.
About the Artwork:
- There will be a fee of £400 paid to the selected artist.
- Final artwork size: 163cm x 55.5cm – with a bleed mark of 2cm.
- Artwork is displayed as backlit acetate prints
- Two designs are required (one for each exhibition side)
- Bright colours and lighter tones tend to work best within the illuminated format
- Artists may submit:
- two complete designs, or
- a collection of images/text to be assembled collaboratively into the final format
- Artists will still own their own designs, and are more than welcome to share their process on designing it for publicity purposes, and Creative Island will do the same.
