The Under the Bed Sale IW returns to Quay Arts in Newport this week, offering art lovers the chance to snap up original works at affordable prices.
More than 50 Island-based artists will sell pieces from their personal collections between 11th and 16th February 2026.
The sale takes place in the main gallery at Quay Arts on Sea Street.
Exhibited artists offer work from £10 to £400
All the participating artists currently work on the Isle of Wight and have exhibited their pieces in galleries.
Many have shown their work nationally and internationally, with several holding prestigious awards and memberships in national bodies.
Artists price their work between £10 and £400, creating an accessible entry point for new collectors and experienced buyers alike.
Wide range of mediums and styles
Visitors will find paintings, printmaking, sculpture, photography and ceramics among the offerings.
The sale also features experimental pieces, slight seconds, sketchbook works, drawings, collage, cards and objects that defy easy description.
Organisers display all works salon style, and buyers can take their purchases home immediately.
Artists clear studio space whilst supporting collectors
The event allows artists to move stored work out of their studios whilst giving buyers the opportunity to own original pieces at reduced prices.
Organisers describe the sale as a win-win situation for both parties.
Four practising artists – Fran Farrar, Fiona Schindler, Jill Wilkinson and Karen Mead – run the event.
Not-for-profit event creates community buzz
The Under the Bed Sale IW operates as a not-for-profit venture run by and directly supporting exhibiting artists. Previous years have generated strong interest and helped support creative practitioners on the Island.
Fran Farrar, one of the organising artists, said,
“The vibrancy and energy around Under the Bed Sale is fantastic – and everyone gains from the sale.
“If previous sales are anything to go by, we anticipate a very busy event again, so get there early to find that unique piece.”
Main arts venue hosts accessible sale
Fran expressed enthusiasm about the venue choice. She said,
“We are thrilled to be holding the sale at the wonderful West Gallery at Quay Arts again – as the main arts venue on the Island it feels a great place to be sharing work for sale at accessible prices.”
The sale opens to the public daily from 9am to 5pm at Quay Arts, Sea Street, Newport, running from Wednesday 11th to Monday 16th February 2026.
Entrance is free, and the Quay Arts Cafe will serve refreshments throughout the event.
