Cultural and creative professionals on the Isle of Wight are invited to a special meeting on January 16th at Carisbrooke College.
The event will focus on ‘Access and Inclusion’ and feature a dedicated session addressing considerations when working with individuals with a range of needs.
This meeting offers an opportunity for professionals to explore best practices, share insights and network with local educators.
Networking and collaboration
Bringing together the Island’s cultural community, the meeting aims to foster collaboration between creative practitioners and those shaping education.
Attendees are welcome to turn up on the day. However, those with specific questions or topics to share, particularly with an educational focus, are encouraged to contact Claire at claire@creativeisland.org.
The session runs from 2.30pm to 4pm.
Creative approaches to literacy: A CPD Opportunity for Educators
Later the same afternoon, educators are invited to a meeting at Carisbrooke College with a ‘Creative Approaches to Literacy’ focus.
This session, also on 16th January, will provide free professional development (CPD) on the Music Hub’s ‘Rap and Literacy’ curriculum.
Bringing innovation to the classroom
The curriculum, described as “phenomenally successful,” integrates rap music into literacy learning, offering innovative tools to inspire pupils.
In addition to the CPD session, the meeting provides a valuable chance for educators to network with the Island’s cultural and creative professionals. Opportunities to enhance pupil engagement through partnerships will also be discussed.
Educators can attend from 3.30pm to 5pm. Questions and enquiries can be directed to Claire at claire@creativeisland.org.
Both sessions promise to enrich the Island’s cultural and educational landscape, strengthening ties between creative industries and local schools.
