Creative Island hosts Arts Council England event for grassroots music funding

Earlier this month Creative Island welcomed Arts Council England representatives to the Isle of Wight’s Building 41 in Cowes.

Nick Green, along with Rosey Brown, the Grassroots Music Relationship Manager for the Southwest, led an informative session. They shared details about the Arts Council’s Grassroots Music Sector funding, crucial for local music organisations.

Funding opportunities explored
The funding aims to assist a variety of music sectors including rehearsal and recording studios, music promoters, and live event festivals.

It also supports venues that showcase live and electronic music performances. These organisations are crucial to the music sector on the Island as they provide musicians the space to refine their skills, experiment with new ideas, develop their audience, as well as gather live feedback.

Supporting Grassroots Music Fund
Arts Council England has now opened its Supporting Grassroots Music , which runs until March 2025.

The fund is designed to enhance the public’s access to live and electronic music and foster talent development across the music industry.

During the workshop, those taking part heard insights into how the fund can benefit the local music scene and support cultural growth.

Further information and contact
The presentation also touched upon other Arts Council England initiatives, such as the National Lottery Project Grants and the Developing your Creative Practice fund.

For those who could not attend the presentation or have further questions, additional information is available.
