The Isle of Wight is set to host a vibrant celebration of artistic talent this May as Isle of Wight Open Studios makes its much-anticipated return.

With an impressive 151 artists signed up to participate, the Island will transform into a hub of creativity, welcoming art lovers from near and far.

Run by a new team
The initiative, which relaunched in 2024 after a hiatus caused by the Covid pandemic, promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The event is now run by a newly formed Community Interest Company (CIC), driven by a team of passionate volunteers committed to showcasing the extraordinary talents of local artists.

A unique celebration of Island creativity
Caroline Underwood, Director of Isle of Wight Open Studios, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, saying,

“For ten days in May, Isle of Wight Open Studios makes the amazing creative community here visible in a unique way. With 151 artists registered for this year’s event it is set to be a brilliant celebration of creativity across the Isle of Wight.”

The event offers a rare opportunity for visitors to step inside artists’ studios, witnessing their workspaces and learning about the creative processes behind a diverse range of artistic styles and techniques.

Caroline added,

“Artists Island-wide will open up their workspaces to welcome local residents and visitors from further afield, showcasing such a wide variety of techniques and styles, there really is something for everyone.”

Opportunities for young artists
This year’s event will also highlight the next generation of talent. Five artists, aged 18–25, have been granted free membership of Isle of Wight Open Studios for 2025.

Thanks to the support of Brave Island, these young creators have been paired with local studio venues to exhibit their work.

One of these rising stars, Ryde-based photographer and filmmaker Dominika Baerova, will showcase her work at Riboleau Studios. Speaking about her first exhibition, Dominika shared her excitement,

“I have never exhibited my work before so I’m excited about this opportunity to meet other creatives on the Island and to share my work with a wider community.”

Visitors share their experiences
For many, Isle of Wight Open Studios is more than an art event—it’s an unforgettable experience. Reflecting on last year’s edition, one visitor said,

“It was a truly tremendous time & opportunity. So generous of the artists to open their studios and give their time so freely. I had so many immensely interesting and rewarding conversations with artists, and absolutely loved seeing the work. Especially in their own working studios. And bringing home some very beautiful original treasures.”
