We are well aware that the Isle of Wight has a strong and growing creative community. Indeed, the research we undertook for the cultural strategy demonstrated that the Island has a larger than average number of people making a living as artists and craft makers. It is part of our character and something to build upon and celebrate.
As part of our commitment to ensuring everyone on the Island has a chance to be creative, we have spent the past year working to revive the Island’s annual open studios event.
Building on the work of IW Creative Network
This felt like an obvious way of sharing the extraordinary array of craft makers and artists working across the Island that builds on the work of the Isle of Wight Creative Network.
We have gathered a committed group of people who have worked tirelessly on creating a model for everyone to share and contribute. The result is a newly formed CIC (community interest company) and website for Isle of Wight Open Studios.
A vibrant showcase
From Friday 23rd August to Sunday 8th September 2024, be a part of a vibrant showcase that, hopefully, will go some way to demonstrating the range and quality of the creative community of the Island.
Applications to take part for 2024 are now closed, but please do read more about what the 17 days will involve – which includes 123 artists and craft makers across the entire island opening their studio doors to the public.
