Acting Up at Quay Arts is a two-part programme celebrating the organisation’s long-standing role in developing performing arts talent on the Island. The first element is a two-day showcase of early-career performers aged 18–30 who have been supported by the Mike Howley Trust. It highlights the breadth of local theatre-making, bringing together a new generation of Island artists across different performance styles.
The second element is a new commission from Deadman (Sam Bossman), a former Trust awardee. He will develop a new play exploring life around Newport Quay between 1870 and 1900, drawing on memories gathered from local groups to shape two site-specific performances in and around the Quay Arts building, connecting history, place and contemporary Island voices.
